This group project was built as part of the course IDG3000 - Modern Web Technologies and Sustainability. The purpose of the project was to re-implement a website intentionally built to leave a large carbon footprint, in a way that is sustainable and optimized to minimize carbon emissions. We would then show and teach our approach and technology-choices to the class, and how they can apply the same optimization techniques and technologies to create sustainable websites. Our solution was to re-implement the project using a light, almost dependency-free custom JavaScript-based build tool to fetch data from the official Studio Ghibli API, as well as media assets from a server - before building static webpages in plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript. The website is hosted on Cloudflare which is a confirmed green host.
